Hooded Bathrobe Unisex XXL
A bathrobe made of 420 gsm Egyptian cotton, in classic white — heavy enough to dry off in, light enough to wear all morning. One size: XXL, a generous fit and unisex.
What to use it for
- Right after showering — you dry off while wearing it, so you don't need a towel
- At the breakfast table in the morning — stays put with a belt and two side pockets
- To the sauna, spa, or pool — the weight you expect from a spa
- In the guest room or Airbnb — XXL is a generous fit, making it suitable for almost any guest
- After swimming outdoors — throw it on over a swimsuit or swimming trunks
What does 420 gsm mean?
GSM stands for grams per square meter: the weight of one square meter of fabric. The higher the number, the thicker and more absorbent it is.
You actually don't want the highest number for a bathrobe, which surprises many people. A bathrobe is something you wear. From 600 gsm and up, it becomes so heavy that it hangs on your shoulders, and it takes half a day to dry after washing. 420 gsm is the point where it still absorbs enough water to dry you off, but remains light enough to sit in for an hour. That is exactly the weight that a good spa uses.
Why Egyptian cotton?
Cotton grows as a tuft of fibers. With regular cotton, those fibers are short, causing many loose ends to stick out of the thread. This creates lint, and it eventually feels rough. Egyptian cotton has longer fibers, so there are fewer loose ends per thread. The result is a smoother and stronger thread: soft from the first wash, and it holds its shape.
About the fit. This bathrobe comes in one size: XXL. That sounds big, and it is — a bathrobe should be roomy, with enough overlap to tie it shut. In practice, it fits from roughly size M to XXL. If you want it tight to your body, choose a bathrobe with specific sizing; if you want to wear it loosely, this is just right.
We weave directly with our weaver in Egypt, with no middlemen. We have been supplying bath linens to hotels and the hospitality industry in the Netherlands for years — this is that same hotel quality, in classic hotel white.

How to keep it in good condition
- Wash it separately once before using it for the first time. New terry cloth comes with a light layer from the weaving process. That needs to be removed first, because only then can the cotton truly absorb water. If you skip that first wash, the bathrobe may seem to have poor absorbency — that’s not the quality, it’s that layer.
- Do not use fabric softener. Fabric softener leaves a thin film on the fiber. It feels soft at first, but it seals the fiber so that water can no longer penetrate it. After a few washes, you’ll be left with something that no longer absorbs anything.
- Washing at 40 °C is enough to get everything clean.
- Tumble drying is allowed, on a low setting. The heat actually helps the loops stand back up, making it feel fuller than if you hang it on the line.
-
That first separate wash applies to all dyed terry cloth: some color may bleed.
Please note: Due to the high weight and dense cotton structure, this bath linen may shed some lint during the first 2 to 3 washes. This is normal and will decrease automatically after a few washes. Wash the product before first use and preferably separately or with similar colors.
Washable at 60°C. Do not use fabric softener — it leaves a layer on the fiber and reduces absorption. Drying at a low temperature keeps the loop intact the longest. Wash separately the first time.
GSM is the weight of the fabric per square meter. Supermarket towels are around 350 GSM, hotels typically use 500. Above that, you get noticeably more volume and absorption.
