Our Story
The Linen Room didn't start with a brand. It started with a laundry service.
For five years, we supplied clean linens to hotels, B&Bs, and the hospitality industry in the Netherlands. That means we didn't just see towels once, but hundreds of times—after the tenth wash, after the hundredth. You quickly learn which quality lasts and which becomes flat, hard, and thin after six months.
What we've learned
Two things determine whether a towel holds up: the weight of the fabric and the yarn it’s woven with.
GSM stands for grams per square meter. Supermarket towels are around 350. Hotels typically use 500. Our Hotel Line follows that hotel standard at 500 GSM, the Nile Collection goes up to 600 GSM in Egyptian cotton, and the Indus Collection to 650 GSM. Our bath mats go up to 850.
The yarn is the second half of the story. Double-plied 20/2 means that two threads are twisted together into one. Most towels in this segment are single-ply. You only notice the difference over time: the loop stays upright, the fabric stays full, and the absorbency doesn’t decrease.
Where it comes from
We work directly with weaving mills in Pakistan and Egypt, with no middlemen. We have personally visited the weaving mill in Pakistan where our Hotel Line and Indus Collection come from. Our Nile Collection is woven in Egypt from 100% Egyptian cotton.
Why we do this
Because we were tired of good towels being found only in hotels. The same quality, without the hotel price, at home.
